Takashi Miike's latest yakuza action movie "Ryu ga Gotoku" (literal translation: "Like a Dragon"), filmization of Sega's PS2 video game "YAKUZA", opened last Saturday in Japan. The opening day event was held in a theater in Kabukicho, Shinjuku, the real-world yakuza mecca in Tokyo. Here are some photos.
Leading actor Kazuki Kitamura, his opponent Goro Kishiya and Miike all expressed the film as "'What the hxxx is this!?' movie" and "out-of-wack Miike-style". The film is filled with hard action scenes, particularly between Kitamura and Kishiya, and they both expressed fun of acting those scenes with good teamwork.
In his interview with MovieWalker, Kitamura also mentions, "everyone takes off their clothes with no meaning, and women should enjoy it." Miike was saying the same thing in the premiere event, and that makes me wishing so hard I were there! Anyway, here are some of Kitamura's nice photos.
