Sion Sono's "HAZARD", starring Joe Odagiri, filmed in 2002 mostly in New York, was released in Japan for the first time on November 11. Team members, Director Sono, Odagiri, Jay West and Motoki Shimizu got together after a long time and greeted the first day audience. The story depicts a dangerous journey of a young Japanese man, who left the sleepy home country and seeks the place of hazard, as well as his own life, in the dark side of New York.
Sion said, "it was already 4 years ago, and I feel a bit embarrassed, just like I happen to find an old photo of myself in punk hair style.... The film is also like the first album of a punk band, which was recorded in just one day pushed by a sheer momentum."
Odagiri, who sported the punky hairstyle as usual, said, "I really don't remember anything, as it was a long time ago. I remember American breakfast was delicious, compared to what we usually eat in locations in Japan."

I recently wathced this movie in AFM. As Sono himself stated, I thought the film is too straight forward and has too much rough edges, but full of energy. I felt that it has a bit similar taste to Odagiri's "Bright Future".
