Ken Watanabe's "Red Sun, Black Sand" will open in Japan earlier than the US

Clint Eastwood's "Red Sun, Black Sand", WWII movie about Iwo Jima battle starring Ken Watanabe  Kazunari Ninomiya, Shido Nakamura and others, will open in Japan on December 9, the day after the Pearl Harbor attack day, earlier than anywhere else in the world, including the U.S.  It is the first time that a Hollywood movie holds the world premiere in Japan.  The US release date is not yet announced.

Its sister movie "Flags of our Fathers" will be released in Japan on Oct. 28, a week after the U.S. release of Oct. 20.
