Possible new film info - "Speed Racer"

250pxspeed_racer I know there have been a rumor about this, but I have been dismissing it as "just a groundless rumor", because most of the main cast were already announced and did not seem to be a good role for Sanada-san.  Now, it sounds more legitimate.

A German fan just sent me an e-mail, with a German article about the up-coming press conference.  It is about this rumored film "Speed Racer", by "Matrix" team and based on Japanese classic animation, and although I don't read German, it looks like it came from Warner Bros., that the conference will be held on May 31.  And our Hiro's name is in the cast list!!

I did some web surfing, and some people mention in their blogs about it.  One of them says that the press conference will be held in Germany because the investors are in Germany, and it is going to be "kids movie".

If it is true, I am curious how he made this decision - maybe Jackie Chan gave Hiro some influence.  QUITE interesting that he will be in kids movie in sequence after RH3 (which is not 100% kids movie, but it is taken up in Nickelodeon, so I guess roughly speaking, it is).

German fans, please watch out for more details on Thursday, and please let us know!!  And Ms. S, thank you very much for the info!!!

Misty

well....i MUST SAY....is it ...just a COINCIDENCE that our hiro and matthew fox share the SAME personal manager?!

the IRONIC thing is that when i first noticed this...i kept thinking that MAYBE hiro might appear on LOST T.V. show in U.S. (matthew stars in this series). this was when it was a TOP rated show.

anyway...it certainly COULD be how this happened.

i think it's just GREAT, personally. but then, ANYTHING he's in makes me happy. :)

found this on a blog for RAIN, and it could be a key to hiro's role. misty, you were right...hiro will likely be rain's father! from everything i've read, they have rewritten an 'original' story.
(the CAPS are MINE, but the wording is as i found it.)

Rain Lands Part in Hollywood Movie

The Korean singer and actor Rain has a foot in the door in Hollywood after being cast in "Speed Racer," the next film by the Wachowski brothers, who created "The Matrix." Rain is to play a character who takes part in high-speed car races to secure his FATHER'S COMPANY.

Rain’s manager claimed the K-pop star’s role "holds the key to the movie.” “Though it is a supporting role, Rain will manage the flow of the movie between the two main parts." The character’s name has not been decided.

He was picked by the director after competing with 20 Asian actors including top stars in Asia. Rain met with the Wachowski bothers at BERLIN IN APRIL.

He will participate in a production press conference in Berlin on May 31, and start filming in the German capital for two months after finishing his world tour in June.
